The Faces of Wilton Manors

In the coming months around Wilton Manors, you may encounter a big burly guy with a camera focused on you. He’s not a serial killer or a private investigator. He’s a professional photographer.

Larry Singer approached Art Gallery 21 with an idea for an art exhibit earlier in the summer and we were so impressed with his body of work, we had to say, “Yes!”

Recently, Larry has been spotted at the Hagen Park Tennis Courts and lurking along Wilton Drive with his camera. He says he’s watched the renaissance of the island city in recent years and is fascinated with the differences between daytime faces and those who come out at night.

A little bit about Larry. He is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Photographer who recently published a book of photographs shot in and around Bonnet House. His iconic photos feature rock & roll legends Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty among others. His Bonnet House book is on the shelves of every public school library in Broward County.

Larry’s been a resident of south Florida for a long time and we’re in awe of his talent and thrilled that he chose our little neighborhood art gallery to host this project. If you’re interested in his other work, he’s currently exhibiting at a Chicago gallery here. Check it out.

Coming in January of 2021, Art Gallery 21 will unveil an exhibition of a selection of the photos Larry Singer takes. The Faces of Wilton Manors.
