What’s next?

AG21_0091_WEBThis first month of the new year is flying by at warp speed! The 6 Hands Collaborative exhibit, “The Art of Collaborative Art,” has been a huge success! They will be hosting their Affirmative Banner Workshop tomorrow (1/23) and the three women who are the six hands are planning a closing party next Friday (1/29) beginning at 7 PM. If you haven’t yet seen this quirky and charming mixed media show, shame on you! You’ll love it! Especially the 25 little boxes! They tell some wonderful stories!

February is going to be fun filled for all of us! On Saturday, February 6 we will do the art intake for the fourth annual Island City Juried Art Exhibition! Rules & Entry Form can be found here and we’re looking forward to seeing some of our long-time artist friends and meeting some new ones! We are pleased as punch that this year’s jurist is the award-winning artist, Tyce Marshall, whose work will be featured in our spring exhibit. The awards ceremony will take place during our exhibit unveiling and art social on Friday, February  12 and prizes include cash, ribbons and a “Winner’s Show” in March! There is an added energy to the evening as everyone waits to find out who the winners are!

Color WheelOn the weekend of February 20-21 (Saturday & Sunday) we have planned a Color Theory Workshop with local plein air artist and teacher, Janet Onofrey. A detailed description of the workshop along with the list of supplies needed for the workshop can be found here. You can register online, too! This is a terrific workshop for new artists who are developing their technique, and it’s equally good for experienced artists. The methods for  mixing paints are many and Janet’s teaching style allows for individual development for folks at all different levels in their art career.

Many thanks to all the people who support this community service project to bring more art to the Arts & Entertainment District of Wilton Manors! We couldn’t do it without YOU!
