Art Gallery 21 presents a new Pop Art Exhibit open to the public March 13 through April 10, 2021, in Wilton Manors, Florida.
Art Gallery 21 has joined forces with TeddsARTWorks to present a one-of-a-kind exhibition, titled POP-ism. See it in real life on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 7 PM and by appointment through April 10th.
So, what do you know about Pop Art?
Did you know that Pop Art emerged in New York and London during the mid-1950s? Using simple imagery, and bold blocks of color, Pop Art was a visual style. Pop Art was driven by the trends of mass-production, mass-media, and mass-culture. It emphasized the power of film and television using the imagery of advertisements, celebrities and comic strips. Pop Art continues to evolve in today’s world of social media.
The political posters of Shepard Fairey, who gained attention with Obama’s “Hope” campaign posters in 2008 is an example of Pop Art. Then there’s the anonymous Banksy, who continues to comment on social issues, oftentimes through dark humor. That’s Pop Art, too.
POP-ism is curated by Tedd Davis, local artist and gallery owner of TeddsARTWorks Gallery of Wilton Manors.
POP-ism presents the works of three bold and colorful South Florida artists:

Jamie Roxx
The concepts created by each of these artists is in tune with the past and the present. They seek to connect the traditions of fine art with the mass culture of television, advertising, film, and cartoons. They challenge traditional boundaries between mediums and techniques, merging painting with photography and printmaking, combining handmade and readymade or mass-produced elements, and bringing together objects, images, and sometimes text to create new meaning.
POP-ism includes over 25 vibrant, original works of art for your viewing pleasure. Open free to the public, and we encourage art fans to bring their friends and family for a one-of-a-kind, fun experience with Pop Art. Pandemic protocols are observed with face coverings, social distancing and limited capacity to keep us all safe.
