Meet the Artists:
Blima Efraim and Mimi Botscheller present small works that make larger statements. Both invoke intuition to inform their creative choices without relying on a predetermined outcome. They respond to the moment with each mark, color or material evolving into individually authentic artwork stemming from each artists’ personal experience and journey. Surrounded and stimulated by varieties of hybrid materials and media with infinite possibilities,
Botscheller’s art exists in a fully present space that evolves into a flow state where is seems to the artist a magical puzzle emerges. Nature and patterns perceived both in nature and design
are her link to more universal truths. Trust in these connections opens portals to subconscious decisions and experiences to reveal an understanding of balance, unity that appears to emerge from chaos. An image is created from puzzle like pieces fit together guided by an unknown energy that constructs a totally new image. botscheller would describe this an alchemical process of transformation.
Efraim defines her creative process as “subconscious recreations” where without a plan color and textures reveal hidden images. Discovering Yupo paper these artistic recreations were able to more clearly define her environmental concerns. Yupo is an innovative material that collaborates with nature and sustainability issues while at the same time the artist embraces an intuitive process painting with alcohol and acrylic based inks. Fluid media is never duplicated and continually reveals new visual surprises.
For these Surrealist artists, intuition is the bridge between the experience of both the external and inner worlds. It is the mystery of subconscious connections define their working processes and inspiration. Subject and object exist in an integrated unified field of interconnections that appear to be made through chance, an open ended and often unpredictable puzzle that through intuitive
decisions become whole, balanced and complete
