The Public Art Continuum: A Reflection of Our Place & Time

In celebration of the Broward Cultural Division’s 50th Anniversary of its public art program, Art Gallery 21 will present an exhibition that showcases Broward County’s public art journey – past, present and future. With support from the Broward County Cultural Division, this exhibition will include selected artworks in one of the following three categories:

1. THE PAST: Interpretive photographs of past public art installations taken in Broward County, with artist(s)’ name, location, completion date and other pertinent information stated. Submitted photographs must be framed and wired ready for hanging.
2. THE PRESENT: Submit your visual interpretation of one currently completed Broward County public art projects, through photography or painting. A complete listing of 300+ public art installations from the Broward County Public Art and Design Collection can be found at Broward.org Public Art Directory. Submitted art must be framed and wired for hanging.
3. THE FUTURE: Artists are invited to submit a new and original conceptual design for a future public art project. It could be presented through an artistic drawing, or a reduced scale (1/6 to 1/12) model that cannot exceed 36 inches in length, height or width. The proposal must include and/or suggest a suitable location (in Wilton Manors or Broward County) for the artwork installation, an estimate for the cost of artwork fabrication and installation; in addition, recommendation for regular maintenance requirements. One of these submitted conceptual proposals could be selected for a future public art project.

ENTRY FEE: $20 per entry, with a limit of one entry per artist. Payment to Art Gallery 21, Inc., can be made via PayPal (artgallery21wcwm@gmail.com) or Zelle (954-225-5488). Please be advised that there are no guarantees of acceptance into the exhibit and there are no entry fee refunds.
SUBMIT A PHOTO of the artwork with the entry fee to artgallery21wcwm@gmail.com no later than FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2026. You will be notified if your entry is accepted no later than Monday, January 5, 2026. Upon acceptance, you will bring your entry to Art Gallery 21 on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
The criteria for entries will be based on originality and creativity, overall impression of the art, how clear the theme is to the viewer, the context of the installation’s location, and the scale and proportion of the subject matter.

Tin Ly, a Wilton Manors resident with a history in public art will serve as jurist for this exhibit. He will select the entries that will be accepted into the exhibit and he will choose one winner in each of the three categories. Cash awards and ribbons will be presented live in the gallery on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at approximately 7 PM. Artwork will be exhibited in the gallery through February 14, 2026, and will be shared on our social media platforms. Gallery hours will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 2 to 6 PM and by appointment.

NOTIFICATION to artists by 6 PM on January 5th
ART INTAKE: Saturday, January 10th | 10 AM-Noon — Artists DELIVER their entries to Art Gallery 21
EXHIBIT OPENING: Saturday, January 17– 6 to 8 PM — Exhibit Unveiling and Presentation of Awards
EXHIBIT CLOSES: Saturday, February 14, 2026 — All artwork may be picked up at the end of the show.
