Summer’s end at Art Gallery 21

Summer’s End

South Florida experienced one of the hottest summers on record. As the tilt of the earth brings us shorter days and cooler nights, we’re getting excited. We’ve been putting together a schedule of exhibits that we think will knock your flipflops off!

Working with Savory PR  on “The Art of Barbie” project earlier this year, we learned a lot about digital marketing, social media and SEO.  With their help, we spent the summer putting together a plan to bring diverse art experiences to more people in Wilton Manors. You guys are in for a real cultural treat!

Saying Goodbye …

On a personal note, our final show of the 2018-2019 season, “From the Swamp to the Village,” featured artist Nia Nakis and her colorful acrylic paintings. We were delighted that Nia was able to join us for the exhibit opening on June 1st; she’d been battling stage four cancer.  When asked why she painted, Nia said she created art “in an effort to portray God’s beauty and wonder while pleasing the eye and lifting the spirit.” Sadly, Nia’s spirit was lifted into the heavens in mid July and we are mourning her passing.

As a tribute to her creative spirit, Art Gallery 21 is offering five of Nia’s original paintings for sale to the general public through our web site. We’ve created a sales page here where you can view the art and purchase it directly. The paintings will hang in the gallery until September 30th and will remain available until they’re sold.

Shop’s Open!

Even though we are a small neighborhood art gallery, we think there’s a market for original Florida art, so we’ve set up a SHOP page where you can buy local art.  Please check it out. It’s way better than anything you’ll find at Target. We promise.

Looking ahead …

Finally, the 8th Annual Island City Juried Art Exhibition will open in October, so, artists need to start their creative engines and get ready! Cash prizes, award ribbons and a Winner’s Show are up for the taking! Rules & Entry Form are available on our website here.
